Papua New Guinea (PNG) lies approximately 3 hours flight north of eastern Australia. PNG is the eastern part of the island of New Guinea and is broken up into 4 main regions. The South West is the Papua region, the Highlands region in the centre, Momase region is to the North East & Islands Region are the islands scattered off the coast. With a population of over 4 million people, more than 800 distinct languages are spoken in Papua New Guinea. Melanesian Pidgin and Hiri Motu are the two most widely used languages, although English is the official language
